Reflecting Sun by Luda Nayvelt

November 12, 2011 § 1 Comment

Seclusion … Illusion … Whispering glen

Skyline … Sub-lime … Audible wren

Golden pinks … Darkish shades … A  moment in time

Sun setting … Glow letting … All is just fine

Micklyn – “Secret Powers of Super Mom”

Up, up and away

What awesome display

I’m a laundress with powers of flight

With wind in my hair

And clothes in my face

My chores are like flying a kite!

Photograph is by Micklyn, entitled “The Secret Powers of Super Mom,” Find her work at Red Bubble.

Poem is by Jean Dewitt, entitled “Laundress With Powers of Light.” Find her work at Media Magpie and Image Kind.

Don’t want to be made of cardboard–

Or of feathers blown away.

Nor Gorilla Glue, or staples–holding me in sway.

Don’t want foundations faulty–

Or cornerstones that cringe.

It’s sturdy dreams I’m after—that will hold and not unhinge!

Béla Török – “Misty Lake”

January 11, 2011 § 1 Comment

It seems like I should be hearing a flute playing
With the wind carrying its song down past the fog and the distance

It seems like I should be shivering from the cold
Since my jacket was thoughtlessly tossed back on the mason wall

It seems like I should be upset with this serendipity—
This spontaneous wandering by this unknown lake

It seems like I should want to be somewhere else—
But somewhere else wouldn’t be half as good as this wonderland

How grand that things aren’t what “they seem” and unexpected detours
can still lead us to surprising beauty!

Béla Török – “Blue Moon”

November 15, 2010 § 2 Comments

Glimmering, shimmering, fantastical hues
Night watchman watching the grays and the blues

Azure and cobalt so framed by the dark
And there hangs that orb like a lone patriarch

Flittering, jittering thoughts running through
As softly repeating Swing songs set the mood

And with coffee “just right” from a thermos in plaid
The watchman just whispers, “night shift’s not so bad!”

Allison Ashton – “Lifted”

November 13, 2010 § 2 Comments

Throw out the streamers
Bring out the punch
Reach for the heavens and dream

Dress up “as you like”
With a smile and a hope
And bask in celestial theme

Kick up those red heels
And toss out your fears
They’re holding you back no more

Yes, life’s within reach
One heartbeat away
And it’s what you were put here for!

Chris Palmer – “Reflections”

September 17, 2010 § Leave a comment

The wide expanse is like a pond of icy glass
I can see the sky’s reflection in the stone
And the trickling ribbons of light are like fingers of newness

As I tilt my head to look sideways, I see symmetry
Lines reflecting lines and clouds that are bookends
With rainbows hiding behind the concrete history

The quiet of the early dawn soothes the soul
And the lone worker seems like poetry in motion
As his left-to-right routine removes the traces of yesterday’s crowds

A person’s work can seem mundane to themselves
But from this perspective it is an act of beauty
His frame upon this street of solitude has become a work of art
